Day 98 Greenville - Vandalia 20.9 miles

Chilly!

46 degrees in the morning.

Soon it'll be 30's.

But when the sun came up, it got warm enough.

Google Map cheated me again!

When I reached Vandalia, today's goal, there was no motel where it should have been!

I wonder why...

I tried seeing the Google Map Street View.

There was no motel, but instead there was someone's house out there.

Mysterious!

Anyway I am OK.

Finished safely today too.

Day 97 Highland - Greenville 19 miles

Short day.

Finished before noon.

Sunny but cool.

Wind was a bit chilly, which means witer is drawing near.

Find towns every 12-20 miles.

Have no difficulty finding a place to get food and water.

I don't have to carry so much food and water.

Next weekend I'll be in Indiana.

Day 96 Downtown St. Louis - Highland (Illinois) 34.6 miles

Cross the Mckinley Bridge on the Mississippi River and finally I enterd  the state of Illinois!

I don't like big cities and busy roads.

So I felt ease when I hit into Woodland Trail which started at Horseshoe Lake.

The trail ended iin Troy and I took HWY 162 and US 40 to get to Highland.

Long day but tail wind pushed me a lot.

Non stop run for 8 days in a row.

I can run much longer and farther.

Day 95 St.Louis (Westport) - Downtown St.Louis 20.2 miles

Had some rain early in the morning but it had stopped just before I started.

Mostly cloudy except some scattered rain in the late morning.

The trouble is that I got lost in downtown area because big construction was going on in the central part of the city.

According to De tour sign, I kept going avoiding the construction part.

But after all I came back to where I had started.

I arrived at the motel but ran 3.5 miles more than I had expected.

Tomorrow I'll cross the Mississippi and enter the state of Illinois.

Day93 Warrenton - Lake St. Louis 21.6 miles

Kind of boring day.

The scenery is almost the same, running along the Interstate.

It's the Great Plain, isn't it?

The closer I get to St. Louis, the bigger the size of town becomes.

Almost every town has McDonald's and conveniencestores.

Some of them has Walmart.

I remember running in the desert area.

Once I found McDonald's, next one is 3 or 4 days later or longer.

It was almost impossible to find Walmart in the desert.

All I found was a small grocery store.

It's not 24 hours open.

Traveling is a succession of discovery.

I'm studying a lot.

Day 92 New Florence - Warrenton 20 miles

Short day.

Because of my bad shinsplint, I chenged the schedule, quitting my run on the way Warrenton.

I wish I could have run till Wentzville.

Warrenton is a kind of big town.

The motel is also good, cheap (about $35) with microwave and fridge.

But I can't access the Internet, out of network in my room.

So I access the Internet, sitting in front of the office, with a mosquito bothering me...
